Whether your business has or has not had to transition to a remote workforce, odds are you are familiar with the term. It’s practically a household vocab word. While remote work is the norm currently, it may certainly become the norm in the future. Regardless if this comes to fruition, here are some helpful ways you can engage and promote productivity with your remote workforce.

#1: Establish a Remote Work Policy

Just as there are rules inside your office, so should there be rules for your remote workers. You should treat anywhere your workers are working as an extension of the office. The following points fall under the umbrella of this suggestion.

#2: Dress for Success

If your employees are dressed in their lazy, lounging clothes they will be inclined to work slowly and less diligently. Encourage your staff to dress as they would for work even if they don’t have a video meeting that day. Foster a professional mindset.

#3: Use Video Often

Your employees will begin to feel unmotivated and isolated if they can’t see each other’s faces regularly. To solve this, you need to deploy consistent and scheduled video calls. Urge smaller teams to continue to meet virtually as well.

#4: Discover New Solutions from your Employees

Working remotely will create a whole new set of challenges for many businesses. Instead of trying to solve them all yourself, reach out to your employees. See how they can use their creativity to fix unique problems that were not in your previous work environment. It’s possible they might have been sitting on some idea or skill set that was never utilized in the physical office.

#5: Designate an Office Space

Have your employees create a designated workspace. Ask them to only do work when at their desk or office area. Have them take their breaks away from their selected desk or office area as well. This separation will create a proper work/break mindset, otherwise, things can become muddled mentally.

#6: Deploy the Right Technology

Having the right technology and hardware in place is the bedrock for working remotely. Your business needs to have access to platforms such as UCaaS and DaaS (virtual desktops), to name just a few. All of the previous suggestions are pointless if you cannot virtually and securely connect and collaborate with your employees.

There are plenty of providers and suppliers out there who have awesome and unique solutions that can enable a remote workforce. RingCentral, Masergy, Intelisys, ScanSource, Effortless Office, RapidScale, CloudGenix, the list goes on and on of capable options. The problem is discovering which one is the best fit for your company.
