IaaS and Cloudtrek

The Importance of Data

Data is the lifeblood of any business, and for businesses that store their data on-premise, it can be more troublesome than helpful. An on-site room or closet for physical networks is often referred to as spaghetti monsters as they appear to be twisting masses of cables, heat, and noise. Putting aesthetics aside, there is more reason than not to move your data off-premise to a private cloud solution. One such business that specializes in assisting other businesses virtualize their computing environment is cloudtrek.

Who is Cloudtrek?

Of Conectrix’s 250 plus suppliers, we are pleased to consider cloudtrek as one of them. Their mission is to help companies quickly deploy private cloud solutions preserving their needs for greater control, predictable costs, and ease of use. Cloudtrek wants to transform their client’s IT staff from people who simply ‘fix breaks’ to people who get to strategize with new technologies.

The History of IaaS

To understand the importance of IaaS (infrastructure as a service) and the service that cloudtrek offers, it is necessary to understand a pivotal moment in the history of the cloud. That moment was the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001. The attack totally changed how businesses look at infrastructure. When the towers fell, 430 businesses inside the World Trade Center lost all on-premise data. Around 2.8 billion dollars’ worth of wages were lost in the first three months after the attack. When the towers were destroyed, so too was all of these businesses’ data. Of course, they could not have foreseen such a disaster, but now it is more practical and safer for companies to store their infrastructure in data centers or in the private cloud.

“Moving your information to a private cloud is safer than storing your data on-premise.”

Though a grim point in history, this tragedy did lead to beneficial advancements in IaaS. For a business, there are many reasons why they would choose to use IaaS.  Security, uncontrollable costs, relocation or move, lack of visibility, new compliance requirements, etc. Whatever the reason, moving your information to a private cloud is safer than storing your data on-premise.

Cloudtrek and IaaS

A private cloud service is a controlled environment that is more secure than public cloud solutions like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, and private cloud is not affected by the ‘noisy neighbor effect.’ The largest aspect of cloud is the servers themselves. Cloudtrek purchases all the hardware on behalf of the customer to give them an OPX spend. Cloudtrek will also install and manage all their dedicated hardware, migrate workloads, monitor from a health and security standpoint, and handle all scaling up or down. They will also tie into the public cloud and allow customers to use their NOC and field engineering teams as extensions of the customers’ 24/7/365 support. Additionally, cloudtrek will provide an automatic refresh of all equipment after 4 years.

Whatever reason entices a business to move from on-premise to off, they should consider cloudtrek as they offer fixed, transparent costs and because they seek to empower their clients in their digital transformation.
