Healthcare Organization In Desperate Need of Cybersecurity Upgrade

Conectrix pairs a healthcare organization with CrowdStrike Falcon technology through Vigilant to serve as a Managed Endpoint Detection and Response (MEDR) solution, bolstering security posture and enhancing management across all devices.

Client Profile

  • Florida-based healthcare company

  • 850 users plus hundreds of doctor affiliates

  • Lean IT team

Challenges

  • The client lacked security, visibility, and control over its endpoints, specifically servers and desktop machines.

  • Existing antivirus software was outdated and no longer adequate for the organization's growing security demands.

  • The client's IT team recognized increasing cybersecurity threats targeting endpoints such as Windows, Linux, and Mac devices.

  • The IT team also needed better reporting on the types of threats targeting their organization and required additional assistance responding to those threats.

Solution

Conectrix met with the healthcare organization's IT team to discuss its challenges and determine the level of security posture it needed to achieve. Being in the healthcare space, there were additional compliance standards it had to meet to remain in operation, such as HIPAA regulations around protected health information (PHI).

To that end, Conectrix connected the client with CrowdStrike Falcon technology through Vigilant, a leading MDR vendor in the Conectrix portfolio that resells and manages various CrowdStrike licenses. Vigilant helped deploy the CrowdStrike agent across all of the client's servers and desktop devices and trained its IT administrators on how to view and manage alerts within a personalized portal.

An important part of this managed security service is that Vigilant provides unlimited incident response through its Security Operations Center (SOC), meaning it takes on shared accountability for responding to and remediating real-time threats targeting the healthcare organization's environment.

Results

Thanks to the solutions and support offered by Vigilant, the healthcare organization's IT team was able to bolster its endpoint security, eliminate outdated software, and respond more effectively and comprehensively to threats. It is not uncommon for organizations to lack the internal IT resources to manage all of the alerts generated by an EDR product like CrowdStrike. Having a vendor like Vigilant perform incident response on their behalf reduces liability and saves a tremendous amount of time and resources.
